Wash & Care Instructions
Welcome to your comprehensive care guide. Scroll to the section that matches your product to find specific washing and care instructions.

Notes
We recommend not hanging items directly over a radiator or any other dry heat source, as this will prematurely age elastics, can lead to melted laminate, and shorten the life of your waterproof materials.
Avoid contact with all bleaches and fabric softeners in any form. If necessary, use Oxi-Clean to whiten. Use of fabric softener with washable diapers will cause them to repel all liquids and decrease their absorption capacity. This includes liquid and sheet style softeners.

Cloth Diapers

Before First Use
Very Important! All cloth diapering products MUST be prewashed at least once prior to use. Thicker, heavier diapers and inserts should be washed three times and dried once to ensure optimal absorbency.

Storage of Soiled Diapers
Soiled diapers should be stored in a water-resistant, odour-proof pail, container, or bag. Remove any solids (feces) before placing soiled diapers into the container. Do not rinse washable items or immerse them in water until ready to launder. The longer a diaper sits wet, the faster it will wear out. The best way to preserve your diapers is to keep them as dry as possible between washes and to carefully follow the remaining care instructions.

Preparation

Prior to putting any item into a washing machine, make sure that any solids are emptied into the toilet. Keep these points in mind when choosing a detergent for washing cloth diapers:
1. Do not use any detergent that contains natural oils or fabric softeners. These will coat the absorbent fibers of the diaper and cause liquids to be repelled.
2. Make sure you're choosing a detergent that contains enough surfactants to get your diapers clean. Diapers are more heavily soiled items, with multiple layers of fabric, compared to your regular laundry.
3. Avoid any detergent that contains sodium percarbonate or bleach.
4. Avoid detergents that have ingredients you are sensitive to.
5. Avoid any detergent that contains enzymes as they can cause rashes.
6. Ensure that your load is not too large or too small. Either will result in poor cleaning and reduced longevity.

Drying
Hang drying is recommended when possible, but a dryer may be used if permitted in the specific product section.

Pocket Diapers
Washing:
Remove the absorbent insert from the inner pocket so that you have two separate pieces. Both the pocket diaper’s PUL outer and the absorbent insert can be washed together in a washing machine. Use a heavy-duty, full wash cycle with warm (not hot) water and a safe-to-use detergent.
Drying:
Either hang both the diaper and insert up to dry or place them into the dryer on low temperature. Heavily soiled diapers may require a pre-wash with detergent prior to the main wash with detergent.

Prefolds
Before Use:
Prefolds should be washed three times before first use to ensure maximum absorbency. Be sure to fully dry the diaper after the final pre-use wash cycle.
Washing:
Use a full wash cycle with hot water and a detergent that is safe for cloth diapers. Be sure to remove any solids before washing. For heavily soiled items or those with strong odors, a prewash with detergent is recommended. Follow with a full wash using an extra dose of detergent to ensure a deep clean.
Drying:
Dry as desired. Prefolds can be tumble dried or line dried, depending on your preference and the desired softness or longevity of the fabric.

Omutsu Cloth Diaper

Before Use:
Omutsu diapers should be washed three times before first use to ensure maximum absorbency.
Drying:
Tumble drying is recommended due to the thickness of the product on low heat; however, Omutsu Cloth Diapers can also be hung to dry if preferred.

Flats
Flats can be tumble dried or line dried, depending on your preference and the desired softness or longevity of the fabric.

Swim Diaper
Washing:
Use a heavy-duty, full wash cycle with warm water. Select a safe-to-use detergent to maintain the integrity of the materials.
Drying:
Hang to dry whenever possible to extend the life of the item. If using a dryer, select a low temperature setting.

Accessories
Pacifiers
Washing:
While pacifiers may seem like they’re all fun and games, it’s important to remember that just like a little, they require lots of attention and care. Properly storing and periodically cleaning your pacifier will go a long way towards extending its longevity and keeping it free of icky germs. Sometimes after lots of use, pacifier nipples may even become worn down or damaged. It's important to remember to inspect them often and replace them whenever necessary!
It is not necessary to disassemble a pacifier to wash it. Filling a sink with some warm water and adding in a touch of food-grade dish soap is all you need to clean things up. Put the pacifier into the water and then gently use a cloth to clean all over. Once done, rinse with fresh water and let dry for a few minutes before it’s once again ready to use!
Latex Nipples: When washing latex pacifier nipples, please note that the material may absorb some water during cleaning. This can cause the nipple to temporarily appear white or cloudy in colour — this is completely normal. Simply allow the latex nipple to air dry, and it should return to its original colour once fully dry.
Do not put pacifiers into the dishwasher as this will put stress on the nipple and cause it to gradually degrade. We also do not suggest that you boil your pacifiers. For best results, and to extend the life of a pacifier for as long as possible, only hand washing is recommended.
Storage:
When a pacifier is not being used, storing it in a safe, clean place will ensure that it’s ready to go the next time your little one needs some comfort. There are two different types of pacifier nipples: silicone and latex.
Silicone nipples are less picky and can be stored just about anywhere. However, using a pacifier storage pouch is recommended to keep the pacifier clean and also to make it easy to find or transport.
Latex nipples, on the other hand, should be kept away from sunlight and moisture as much as possible. Higher temperatures can also cause the shape of a latex nipple to slightly deform or degrade, so storing them in a temperature-controlled environment is recommended.
Replacement:
If your favorite pacifier’s nipple begins to wear out, don’t despair! We have replacement nipples available which can be swapped out to make your pacifier as good as new. We recommend periodically changing which pacifier you use, or substituting any worn-out nipples with new replacement ones.
Bottles
Regardless of what your little is drinking, you’ll want to make sure that their bottle is thoroughly washed between each use. Not doing so is a sure way to guarantee temper tantrums and fussy nap times.
Plastic Bottles
Washing:
Fill a sink with warm water and add a touch of food-grade dish soap. Remove the cap from the bottle and separate all pieces. Use a cloth to thoroughly clean the top and underside of the nipple, as well as the cap if present. Fully submerge the bottle and scrub the inside. Once clean, rinse all parts with fresh water.
Note: Plastic bottles should not be washed in the dishwasher, as the heat and detergent can damage the material and any decorative prints.
Drying:
Place all parts on a clean rack and allow them to air dry fully before reassembling or storing. For quicker results, you may use a clean cloth to dry the pieces, though it’s best to let bottle nipples air dry naturally.
Glass Bottles
Note: Glass bottles can also be washed in the dishwasher. However, be cautious with any prints or designs, as these may be damaged during the dishwasher cycle. We recommend only placing clear glass bottles in the dishwasher.
Drying:
Place all parts on a clean rack and allow them to air dry completely before reassembling or storing.
