Good morning, good afternoon, good evening or good night, depending on when you’re reading this entry.

First off I'd like to say happy new year and thank goodness 2020 is over and welcome to my first blog post of 2021.

I thought for my first posting in 2021 I would look at ab deco pacifiers.

Deco pacifiers are a unique, often interesting way for ab’s to express their own uniqueness or moods or maybe they just want a cute paci that’ll match an outfit they want to wear at their next play party. Whatever the case may be, deco pacifiers are becoming more and more common and each one more unique than the last.

When you get right down to it there are 2 types of deco pacifiers. The first being non-glueing and the other requiring the use of glue.

First let’s talk about the non-glueing deco pacifier.

The non-glueing deco pacifier is by far the easiest to make, often using things like stickers or sharpie markers. The drawback to this is that the designs are only semi-permanent. Sharpies will stay on for a long time if not scrubbed at or washed often and stickers (depending on the type) are generally somewhat removable though they will last for a while. The benefit to this is that you can change the design as you feel and it does make for a fun afternoon activity.

Deco Paci (Stickers)

Skill Level 1 Simple

Items Needed:

• An ab pacifier (any colour or colours you like)

• Stickers

Optional tools:

(All useful none are necessary)

• Tweezers

• Toothpick or other pointy tool

• Jewel pick

• Possibly scissors

*Stickers are any self-adhesive embellishment*

Possibilities include:

• Rhinestones - they come in various colors and shapes including flowers, unicorns and plain round or square, pretty much anything. Sometimes they come in strips that you might have to cut to size.

*You can also colour clear rhinestones and pearls with sharpies if you want.*

• Pearls

• Foil stickers

• Glitter stickers

• Alphabet stickers

• Bows

Step 1:

The first thing I recommend is that you take your pacifier apart and clean it. Please refer to my Rearz Classroom article on Pacifier Cleaning for tips on how to do this.

Step 2:

Take a moment to picture in your head how you wish this pacifier to look.

Make sure it is completely dry if you just washed it.

Step 3:

Make your vision real and start decorating your new pacifier.

Really that's all there is to it. It really is that simple.

Now we come to the “glued” deco pacifiers. The more advanced of the 2 types.

These are the types of deco pacifiers that you see people selling online and often what people use when taking pictures.

These deco pacis also take longer to make as you need to let the glue set and dry and work in stages. However, once done these deco pacifiers will last you much longer than the deco paci with stickers or drawn on with a sharpie marker.

For safety reasons, if you're going to make this kind of deco paci, make sure that you follow all safety precautions. Depending on what glue you use make sure to work in a well ventilated area. I also recommend you use a charcoal mask if you're using a glue with a lot of fumes and you'll want to work in sections, a little bit at a time.

Deco Paci (Glue On)

Skill Level 3 Medium

Items Needed:

An ab pacifier (any colour or colours you like)

Glue - for your glue it's all based on preference. We liked Beacon brand GemTac, but i know I have heard of a few others like the E6000.(You would definitely want to wear a mask with this one.)

Centrepieces or Planars as they're called in the craft world

Rhinestones/pearls - We recommend either 4mm or 6mm but this is your deco paci so feel free to experiment.

Any other decorations or cabochons you would like to use.

For all our parts we used https://www.sparklewithgems.net/ However, you can also find a lot of cool and interesting items at your local crafting store.

Tools:

• Tweezers

• Jewel pick

Other recommended items:

• Mask

• Gloves

The first thing I recommend, again, is that you take your pacifier apart and clean it, please refer to my Rearz Classroom article on Pacifier Cleaning for tips on how to do this.

Step 2:

Take a moment to picture in your head how you wish this pacifier to look.

Make sure it is completely dry if you just washed it.

I recommend that you plan out your paci in stages. Maybe do the ring right first and let it dry then come back and do the button.

Make sure before you start that you have everything you need first.

Step 3:

Make your vision real and start decorating your new pacifier.

You'll want to use your tweezers to place your rhinestones/pearls.

Again if you're using a smelly glue make sure to wear proper breathing protection.

Experiment:

Feel free to experiment, after all it is your paci, you can try many things.

Here are some other items that might be fun to try.

• Clear flat backed marbles (often found in the floral dept of a craft store.(they use them in vases) the small size fits perfectly on the button of your paci and you can stick it on top of any sticker or picture you want for a 3D effect.

• Ribbon or fabric scraps- bows would be easy enough but other fabrics may require some experimentation.

• Glitter/glitter glue- Glitter glue would be the least messy but either way prepare to have glitter everywhere that your paci might even almost touch haha. (If you have to do glitter I recommend glitter stickers)
